TRAVELLING

Whatever the situation in the world people travel. It's quite natural for a human being to want to change one's environment at least once a year - during a holiday.
Those living in traditionally calm and well-to-do Europe, for instance go to visit either exotic countries or those where political and economical situation changes quickly. The inhabitants of Cyprus with its warm see and a lot of sun prefer to spend their days off or holidays in places where ther is a lot of snow in winter and it's absolutely necessary to be very well packed in order not to get frozen. Moscovites, on the contrary, are eager to visit sunny beaches, especially in autumn and winter.
Traveling in general helps people to get to know each other better. It's very helpful in achieving understanding among those belonging to different races and religions.
Russians for a long period of time were "terra incognita" for Europeans. Thanks to mass media they were thought of as unintelligent people with vicked habits of drinking a lot of vodka and killing poor animals for fur-coats. That's why when at the beginning of 90th of the previous century mutual contacts began to develop, many citizens of Europe were astonished to recognize Russia as the country of traditions and culture.
We have a lot to show to our foreign guests. Moscow itself is a real beauty. When my sister's friends come to visit us from Holland, we usually take them to walk along those three rings of Moscow: the Bulvarnoe, the Sadovoe and the third newly constructed ring without a special name yet. Each of them has its own places of interest to say nothing about the special Moscow atmosphere itself. I wouldn't say much about the Kremlin, the Bolshoy and the Maily Theaters, the carefully reconstructed central cinemas and museums, shops and streets of houses colored with love and understanding of their historical roots. As a rule we visit the Moscow Circus, go to the Tretiyakov State Gallery and Pushkinskiy Museum of Fine Arts. The University, the Luzshniky and Dinamo stadiums are also worth seeing. If it's summer we take a train and go to the Moskva river beach. In winter we go skiing in the Botanic garden or skating in Sokolniki. ot to be seen anywhere else. Shall I go on? No, I suppose not, I just invite friends to come and visit my lovely city and country. In case I'm not too busy with my school I'll be glad to show them a lot more. |
